A combined total of nearly 200 Convention Centers, Meeting Hotels and CVBs have received “Awards of Excellence” for 2009. Anaheim/Orange County: Meetings Solid in 2008 & 2009 Projections Look Bright

The Anaheim Convention Center has gone through three major expansion projects plus several cosmetic renovations to update the Center, including a $13 million glass facade and palm tree-lined walkways. In 2008, more than one million meeting & convention attendees came to Anaheim California, according to the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB). “Meetings have a significant economic impact on our area’s hotels, restaurants, transportation and entertainment venues,” said Charles Ahlers, President of the AOCVCB. “We are very pleased that so many meeting and event planners reported record numbers in 2008 and had a positive experience here.”

Tom Cappucci, General Manager of University Place Hotel & Conference Center in Indianapolis, Indiana was unanimously elected President of IACC NORTH AMERICA.The International Association of Conference Centers, the leading association worldwide for small-to-mid-size meeting venues, hosts important industry events and addresses an array of issues, including promoting market awareness of conference centers as offering separate, distinct and special places and services; disseminating information on the meetings industry and its trends; and providing programs and services that assist its 400+ venue members to respond to the needs of meetings professionals. Recently, the association, which includes members from the United States, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, France, England and Japan, announced its 2009 Board of Directors and other association officers.

The Georgia World Congress Center, which includes 1.4 million square feet of prime exhibit space in 12 exhibit halls, 106 meeting rooms, 2 grand ballrooms and 3 fixed-seat auditoriums, will be the host venue for the the 2009 Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition. The meeting industry event so great they named it twice will make a return engagement to Atlanta. The International Association for Exhibitions and Events announced the selection of Atlanta as the host city for the 2009 Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
