CIC Hosting Green Meeting & Events Discussion Groups in 17 Cities

The Convention Industry Council’s 34 member organizations represent more than 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. CIC facilitates the exchange of information develops programs to promote professionalism within the industry and educates the public on its profound economic impact. Beginning in March, meeting industry professionals can participate in one of the most extensive green-awareness education events. The Convention Industry Council (CIC), in partnership with the members of the local meeting, convention, trade show and exhibition industry in cities across the globe are invited City Discussion Groups on green meetings and events.

Total attendance for the 2007 Annual Meeting & Exposition of the ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership reached 7,058 (3,755 association executives and 2,350 exhibitors), breaking two longstanding records in the categories of total attendance and association executives.   Record breaking attendance and an upbeat atmosphere marked the 2007 Annual Meeting & Exposition of the ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership. This annual convention, held in August at McCormick Place, Chicago, had more than 7,000 attendees and has been declare the organization’s largest meeting ever.

Summer may officially begin in June, but the Summer Concert Season begins with the “unofficial” start of Summer—Memorial Day. In the Detroit area, The DTE Music Energy Theatre has already seen two sold out shows and one near-sell out, indicating a healthy start to this year’s Outdoor Amphitheater business.  If the early weeks are any indication, high-attendance at Detroit-area concerts point to a healthy Summer Season for outdoor amphitheaters. The DTE Energy Music Theatre, in Clarkston, Michigan—one of the consistently top grossing outdoor amphitheaters in the U.S.—hosted a sold out performance by Eddie Money on May 25, near-capacity crowd for Fall Out Boy Boy on May 27 and a sold out show for Montgomery Gentry on June 2. "We are encouraged by the early crowds we've seen at DTE Energy Music Theatre," said Tom Wilson, President and CEO of Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E), whose venues also include The Palace at Auburn Hills.
