 When the Jekyll Convention Center, located on one of the spectacular Sea Islands off the coast of the state of Georgia, opens in 2012, SMG becomes the indisputable leader in public space management. More than 14 million square feet of meeting and event space – 68 convention centers – are now in the SMG management portfolio.

The economic downturn may have taken a toll on attendance, but the 84th Annual Conference & Trade Show of theInternational Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) held in Boston in July still resounded with high-energy levels and general enthusiasm about the program. “Boston was an outstanding conference with some of the best quality and variety in the educational offerings that we have previously had,” said an enthusiastic Shura Lindgren-Garnett, CFE, who assumed the title of Chairman of the Board of Directors in Boston.

Rare enough that a conference lasts for four decades, even rarer that that the meeting not only is hosted by the same venue but that the organizers declare that after 40 years they plan to stay. That’s exactly the case for the "40th Annual Cardiovascular Conference at Snowmass," held in January—at the Silver Tree Hotel & Snowmass Conference Center, in Snowmass, Colorado.

The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Education Foundation’s 4th Annual Partnership Summit brought together meeting professionals from all industry segments to focus on issues ranging from creating branded event experiences to forging lasting business relationships. This year’s edition of this annual summit received rave reviews from attendees.
