With an attendance increase of more than 25 percent, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events  (IAEE) has proclaimed its Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held in December in Las Vegas, a success. The annual year-end event, one of the largest industry conventions whose attendees include meeting planners, show organizers, destination executives and exhibition suppliers, is taken as a sign that the industry ended 2011 on upbeat note.

With the official announcement of the Facilities & Destinations 2011 Awards of Excellence Winners this summer, Site selection became a little bit easier because now, Meeting Planners can know the "Best of the Best" in today’s destination marketplace. This annual Meeting Industry event, conducted by the Facilities Media Group and voted on by Planners of meetings, conventions, trade shows and other events, is a recognition of achievement of a destination and/or facility and its personnel through a program that dates back to 1988.

A $20 million renovation program for Cheyenne Mountain Resort & Conference Center has been announced for this Benchmark Hospitality International property located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This will be the first renovation for the 25 year old conference center, which is expected to encompass nearly the entire venue. The Denver-based company, Ricca + Newmark Design, has been engaged to create the resort’s new interiors, and completion is scheduled for spring 2011
