Washington D.C. – Nearly 4,000 meeting industry members attended the ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership’s 2010 Springtime Expo, a day-long convention held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. on May 27. The attendance figures may not have dramatically increased compared to 2009, and meeting budgets remain austere, but exhibitors and attendees alike noted the atmosphere was palatably optimistic for this annual, mid-year event.

Las Vegas, one of the leading trade show destinations in the world, features more than 148,000 guest rooms and 10 million square feet of meeting and convention space. In the first quarter of 2010, Las Vegas will host 11 major conventions, resulting in an estimated economic boost of more than $620 million LAS VEGAS—The New Year began with what has become a traditional high-tech flair for Las Vegas, when the destination hosted the annual International Consumer Electronics Show, a high-profile event that attracts an estimated 110,000 attendees. But that convention was only the start of a busy quarter for Las Vegas, an upward economic trend that augurs well for the meetings industry nationwide.

Situated in upstate New York, just 50 miles north of Albany, nestled in the panoramic heart of the Adirondacks, the Lake George region features more than 400,000 square feet of versatile meeting space. Motor Coach Tour Operator, Pathway Tours of London Ontario has entered into an agreement with the Warren County Tourism Department for a late spring Lake George group-event. Entitled "Shake on the Lake," to be held in May, the pre-planned tour features a special concert at nearby Saratoga Performing Arts Center and ample opportunities for attendees to experience the Lake George region at the peak of its Springtime Splendor.

College-level football will remain at the Alerus Center, the VenuWorks-managed multi-purpose facility in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The University of North Dakota has signed a 10 year-lease agreement with the Alerus Center as the home turf of its football team, the Fighting Sioux.
