With an attendance increase of more than 25 percent, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events  (IAEE) has proclaimed its Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held in December in Las Vegas, a success. The annual year-end event, one of the largest industry conventions whose attendees include meeting planners, show organizers, destination executives and exhibition suppliers, is taken as a sign that the industry ended 2011 on upbeat note.

 When the Jekyll Convention Center, located on one of the spectacular Sea Islands off the coast of the state of Georgia, opens in 2012, SMG becomes the indisputable leader in public space management. More than 14 million square feet of meeting and event space – 68 convention centers – are now in the SMG management portfolio.

The Hilton Americas-Houston, the largest hotel in the city of Houston, Texas, has nearly completed its $11 million major renovation, a project that began earlier this year. Located in the heart of downtown and directly connected, via indoor sky-bridges, to the George R. Brown Convention Center, has given its guestrooms, meeting spaces and other areas a complete make-over.

With the official announcement of the Facilities & Destinations 2011 Awards of Excellence Winners this summer, Site selection became a little bit easier because now, Meeting Planners can know the "Best of the Best" in today’s destination marketplace. This annual Meeting Industry event, conducted by the Facilities Media Group and voted on by Planners of meetings, conventions, trade shows and other events, is a recognition of achievement of a destination and/or facility and its personnel through a program that dates back to 1988.
