The Québec City Convention Centre has found a fun way to recognize individuals who have helped the venue bring meetings, conventions, trade shows and other events to this destination. Michel Bouchard, CEO of the Centre recently unveiled the Hall of Influence, an animated work of art featuring an ongoing, looped projection of names of local and regional decision makers and meeteing planners, alongside the names of the events they have brought to the 230,000-square-foot facility.
“Many men and women have taken it upon themselves to get involved, investing their time and energy to seek out major conventions,” said Bouchard. We have decided to pay homage to these influential individuals and immortalize them through a publicly accessible animated work of art, which we have christened the Hall of Influence.”
The initial 9 minute loop features 58 “decision makers and researchers” who Brochuad credits with bringing 57 international conventions – 600+ attendees attended by 600 participants or more – to Québec City and its main meeting venue since the opening of the Québec City Convention Centre in 1996.”
“These conventions alone have generated over $150 million in economic impact, or nearly $2.6 million per event,” added Bouchard. According to the Convention Centre, convention category also represents nearly 70 percent of the Centre’s total revenues. In addition, since its opening all events Centre events – which include trade shows, meetings, banquets and conventions – have injected $1.3 billion into the local economy and are responsible for an estimated two million room nights
As with any meeting venue, success is a team effort and now those contributing to the success have a permanent shout out in this city’s meeting venue. “Without the contribution of these influential individuals, we would not have achieved such impressive results,” said Bouchard. “Over time others will follow their example and join them in this hall of influence, a reflection of Québec City’s success as an internationally renowned convention destination.”
