By year’s end, the Denver Convention Center will get roomier. A new 403-room Embassy Suites Hotel is due to open in the heart of Downtown Denver, Colorado, directly across from the convention center.
The Denver hotel, schedule to open in December, is being developed by White/Peterman Properties, Inc., and will be managed by Windsor Management Services, the hotel management arm of Windsor Capital Group. "This hotel is in a prime location and our convention groups will be very excited about this addition to our skyline," said Rachel Benedick, Vice President of Sales & Services for Visit Denver.
In addition to its 403 guest rooms, the hotel boasts 17 function rooms, totaling 21,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, and features unique design elements such as a 13-story glass curtain "Sky Lobby/Atrium." The hotel's amenities include plans for an additional leased restaurant, retail space, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, spa, indoor pool, business center and full valet service/onsite parking. The hotel is planned to be a LEED-certified building.
"When Hilton took the previous Embassy Suites out of the system in downtown Denver, the upper-upscale Hilton brands were underrepresented, creating a 'perfect storm' for a new Embassy Suites hotel to drive an index premium against its competitive set in the upper-upscale segment," said Rich Parks, Vice President of WPM Construction, builder of the project. "We chose Windsor Management Services because we had a lot in common with them and feel they are the group that will bring the results we want to the bottom line."
The Denver Convention Center features an exhibit level with 584,000 square feet of contiguous space that can be divided into six individual halls; 63 meeting rooms, totaling 100,000 square feet, all on one level and a total of 85,000 square feet of ballroom space and the 5,0000-seat Wells Fargo Theatre.
