In a sign that the negative impact of the economic downturn on the meetings industry may be easing, the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced confirmation on 44 future conventions or other events at the Orange County Convention Center. In the last four months (March – June). These shows booked between March and June, represent an estimated 478,000 attendees with an approximate economic impact of more than $569 million.
“We are ecstatic that these meetings and conventions have chosen Orlando as their host city,” said Gary Sain, President/CEO of the Orlando/Orange County CVB. “Our team has continued to book future meetings and conventions even in tough economic times.
Booked events include: Eukanuba National Championship (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2105); Printing Association of Florida (2011); Florida United Numismatists Incorporated (2013); Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association National Convention (2013); National Training and Simulation Association (2013); American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (2013); American Society for Training and Development (2015); Future Business Leaders of America (2015); American Chemical Society (2019)
The Orange County Convention Center –“ The Center of Hospitality,” features 7 million square feet of combined meeting and public space, including 74 meeting rooms/235 breakout rooms; 62,182-square-foot multi-purpose room; 2,643-seat Chapin Theater and a 160-seat lecture hall; 2.1 million sq. ft. of exhibit ion Space (1.1 million sq. ft. of which is contiguous); two 92,000 –square-foot general assembly areas; three full-service restaurants; eight food courts; and three business centers.
