Convention Center/CVB News

The Oregon Convention Center is the largest convention center in the Pacific Northwest, making it an idealvenue for conventions, industry tradeshows, meetings, and banquets. Founded in 1984, Smart City is the nation’s largest provider of event technology in the convention industry. With the venue’s input, Smart city has developed new, cost-effective technology solutions for the industry. The partnering between Oregon Convention Center  with Smart City Networks  has led the meeting technology company to revise their service offerings to create more cost-effective technology solutions.  The new technology packages that Smart City will make available nationwide are designed to better address concerns of planners of  the meetings and events hosted by Smart City venues.

"Smart City came to us with new products and pricing that really gave our sales team flexible product options to address the budget conscious short term customer, said Jeff Blosser, Director of the Oregon Convention Center. " It really compliments our team’s sales efforts."

In an effort to address the meeting needs at the Oregon Convention Center, for additional flexibility in pricing options, Smart City has introduced a new package of offerings which provides clients the ability to select the products and services that best meet their specific needs and budget. Two of the new solutions Smart City offers as part of its wireless solution packages are: "Instant Internet", which provides event attendees with wireless Internet connectivity in public spaces and meeting rooms; and "Exhibitor Internet,"provides exhibitors wireless service with greater bandwidth on the exhibit floor. The new flexible and more cost-efficient programs, according to the company, are adaptive to any size convention center and will be available at all of the buildings serviced by Smart City, Priority Networks and CCPI.

"Our facilities are looking for pricing options and products that can meet a variety of visitor needs, such as one day meetings, variable bandwidth and wireless options," said Mark Haley, President of Smart City Networks. "As a result, we developed a package of services that can be customized to any size convention center’s target market. "We are working with all of our facility partners to implement the specific pricing options that best fit their customer needs and demographics."

The Oregon Convention Center,  the largest convention centers in the Pacific Northwest, features 50 meeting rooms, 255,000 square feet of exhibit space, full-service catering, and experienced staff can handle events of any size, from 10 to 10,000 and is located beautiful and lively downtown Portland.
