Florida has had a relatively robust three months recently. The Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau has confirmed that 22 conventions or shows have been booked at the Orange County Convention Center during the period between November 2008 and January 2009.
The events represent an anticipated 289,000 attendees with an approximate economic impact of more than $346 million. "Even in these tough economic times, Orlando is still a much sought after destination for large meetings because of our world-class convention amenities, great accessibility, compelling value and our creative spirit," said Gary Sain, President & CEO of the Orlando/Orange County CVB.
The Conventions or shows include: American Open Cheer and Dance Championship (2010); SAP Global Marketing – Sapphire Annual Meeting (2010); Craft and Hobby Association Summer Convention & Trade Show (2010); Ace Hardware Annual Fall Convention (2010); National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Annual November National Convention (2011); Global Pet Expo (2013); American Academy of Audiology’s Annual Convention (2014); The Fresh Summit International Convention and Exposition (2016); International Home builders Show (2022).
"These are great wins for Orlando and Orange County. Our sales team has been working diligently to secure new business and continue our relationships with our existing partners," added Sain.
The Orange County Convention Center, Orlando’s main meeting facility, ranks as the nation’s second largest convention center and features seven million square feet of meeting and public space, including 74 meeting rooms/235 breakout rooms; 62,182-square-foot multi-purpose room; 2,643-seat Chapin Theater and a 160-seat lecture hall and 2.1 million square feet of exhibit ion space.
