Clay County Regional Events Center will stay a VenuWorks venue. The venue management company has signed a five-year agreement between VenuWorks and the Clay County (Iowa) Fair Board for VenuWorks to continue its management of the center. "This is an excellent way for us to begin 2009," said Steve Peters, President, VenuWorks. "We are grateful for the Fair Board and the community of Spencer for their continued belief in our organization."
The venue is owned by the Clay County Fair Association, Inc., a nonprofit organization that manages the Clay County Fair. The board consists of 27 members from which a nine-member executive council is elected. The Clay County Regional Events Center is located in Spencer, Iowa, a regional hub that also draws audiences from southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota.
In 2008, the venue hosted 294 events and had 354 event and use dates, and its final attendance was 298,795. The center receives ongoing financial support and in-kind services from the city of Spencer, Clay County and Spencer Municipal Utilities.
"We are pleased to work with the Fair Board and Spencer community to bring in multiple national touring shows and look forward to continuing our successful track record," said Scott Hallgren, General Manager, Clay County Regional Events Center. "Over the last five years, we have hosted Kenny Rogers Christmas Show, Nashville Star Live Tour, WWE Raw, Sesame Street Live, Lorie Line and many others."
A multi-purpose facility that opened in November 2003, Clay County Regional Events Center includes a 2,664-seat arena, a 7,600-square foot Grand Ballroom, which is divisible into six individual meeting rooms, and a 24,000-square-foot arena/exhibit hall.
