CARINO Hotels & Resorts, a world-wide hotel sales company that controls dozens of hotels in North America, representing more than 460,000 square feet of meeting and conference center space, recently announced a new name, new marketing and new staff members at its 7th Annual Global Conference. Highlights of the event included: a client tradeshow & reception for CARINO member hotels and top travel professionals; a review of the brand’s growth and accomplishments in 2008; and breakout sessions with one-on-one meetings with member hotels to discuss new opportunities for 2009.
“We were pleased to welcome new members and strengthen our long-term member relationships at our 7th annual global conference,” said Joe Carino, President, CARINO Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. “This year we look forward to bringing even more value and efficiency to our member hotels, as well as expanding our brand into new countries.”
Several new initiatives were announced at the meeting, including the announcement of a new company name—the company was known as the CARINO Collection—and the new name of CARINO Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is intended to more accurately reflect the global nature of the company. The name change is accompanied by a new and a new “look and feel” to its website and other marketing and advertising materials.
In addition, the company has initiated a a new Global Distribution System (GDS) code. With the addition of the GDS code, CARINO venues can see and track directly the measurable results that the organization delivers as well as provide the ability to track the source of all reservations, the GDS code also opens up new opportunities for exposure and promotion of the properties. For meeting planners, the GDS Code can be used by Starcite and Worktopia and other online meeting planning tools. In addition, the GDS code is used by travel agents and travel management companies for individual business travel, as well as for group travel and attendee travel to small-to-mid-size meetings booked through these sources.
Key staff changes were also announced at the meeting, including Charlotte A. Mordaunt as Vice President, Revenue Management and Reservations and Edward Socorro as Vice President, Advertising and Marketing. In addition, Peter M. Kressaty was promoted to Senior Vice President, Colleen McCollum was promoted to Vice President, Sales; and Sandy B. Goicoechea was promoted to Executive Assistant.
