IACC’s 2009 Board of Directors & Association Officers Announced
Conference Center News

Tom Cappucci, General Manager of University Place Hotel & Conference Center in Indianapolis, Indiana was unanimously elected President of IACC NORTH AMERICA.The International Association of Conference Centers, the leading association worldwide for small-to-mid-size meeting venues, hosts important industry events and addresses an array of issues, including promoting market awareness of conference centers as offering separate, distinct and special places and services; disseminating information on the meetings industry and its trends; and providing programs and services that assist its 400+ venue members to respond to the needs of meetings professionals. Recently, the association, which includes members from the United States, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, France, England and Japan, announced its 2009 Board of Directors and other association officers. 

 Tom Cappucci, General Manager of University Place Hotel & Conference Center in Indianapolis, Indiana was unanimously elected President, having recently served as Secretary, Treasurer and First Vice President. A former Chair of the Annual Conference Planning Committee, Cappucci is the recipient of the association’s Pyramid Award and Award of Excellence. He has been a presenter at the Annual Conference, and the IACC Institute and served as Carin Skoglund, CEO of Bergendal Meetings in Sollentuna, Sweden, was elected Secretary of IACC Global.   Neil Pompan has transcended hemisphere. Previously President of IACC North America, he was unanimously elected President of the IACC Global Board of Directors. Chair or Co-Chair of a number of other committees.

Tim Martin, Global Vice President, Facilities and Vendor Relations for Duke Corporate Education, was elected First Vice President after having served as Treasurer, Secretary. Martin was Chair of the Annual Conference Planning Committee and Executive Committee liaison to the Marketing Committee.

Peter Stockmann, CEO of 3P Business Solutions, was elected Second Vice President. Stockman has served on the IACC Global Board of Directors and on the Tim Martin, Global Vice President, Facilities and Vendor Relations for Duke Corporate Education was elected First Vice President after having served as Treasurer, Secretaryand Chair of the Annual Conference Planning Committee.Annual Conference Planning Committee for 13 years. Recipient of the Award of Excellence and Pyramid Award, Stockmann was Chair of the Education Committee and also served as Director of IACC Education.

 Steve Sackman, Regional Director, Sales & Marketing for Destination Hotels & Resorts, was elected IACC Secretary for 2009. He will be serving his first term on the Board of Directors while also serving as Chair of the Marketing Committee and the IACC Online Planning Committee. Serving his first term on the Board of Directors, Sackman is Chair of the Marketing Committee and also serves on the IACC Online Planning Committee.

At the Association’s first European Conference, the Global Board of Directors elected officers, which include:

 

Neil Pompan, CMP, Vice President with Thayer Lodging Group, was unanimously elected President of the IACC Global Board of Directors. Pompan has served in an array of committee positions and as Treasurer, Second Vice President and President of IACC North America. Steen Broby-Rahr of Denmark's Comwell Klarskovgaard as elected to serve another term as First Vice President. A 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Steen has been active with IACC since 1988 and has served as a member of the Global Board of Directors since 2004. He currently serves as President of IACC’s Denmark Chapter and recently served as First Vice President of IACC Global.Peter Stockmann, CEO of 3P Business Solutions, a veteran IACC Member, was elected Second Vice President of the organization.  Stockman has served on the IACC Global Board of Directors and on the Annual Conference Planning Committee for 13 years, and has been a recipient of the Award of Excellence and Pyramid Award.

Carin Skoglund, CEO of Bergendal Meetings in Sollentuna, Sweden, was elected Secretary of IACC Global. She has been active in hospitality for more than 25 years, and recently served as First Vice President of the Board of Directors for IACC’s Sweden Chapter.
