Public policy programs sponsored by the ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership got a welcomed shot of funding in the arm from a successful 2008 Five-Star Weekend. Held in September at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the event was supported by a record 31 sponsors and raised more than $100,000.
“We thank our partners and event sponsors for their continuous support of the Five-Star Weekend,” said Chris Perry, Vice President, Hotel Sales and Marketing at Mohegan Sun and co-chair of ASAE & The Center’s Five-Star Weekend Committee. “With their support we can continue advocating for the association community and providing the knowledge and learning of ASAE & The Center.”
Attendees included: association CEOs, meeting planners, industry partners and their guests. The 2008 CEO roundtables focused on the important trends highlighted in Designing Your Future, a new environmental scan recently published by ASAE & The Center. Tim Sanders, author of Saving the World at Work: What Companies and Individuals Can Do to Go Beyond Making a Profit to Making a Difference, was a featured speaker. The Five-Star Weekend supports ASAE’s Associations Advance America (AAA) Fund and The Center for Association Leadership’s Annual Giving Fund. The AAA Fund serves as the backbone of ASAE’s public policy programs by supporting lobbying, coalition-building, grassroots networking and legal counsel. The Center’s Annual Giving Fund supports the organization’s mission by creating knowledge, learning and community for ASAE & The Center members and industry partners.
“The 2008 Five-Star Weekend turned out great and the attendees really valued the opportunity to network and share experiences with each other,” said David DuBois, CAE, CMP, President/CEO of the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau and co-chair of ASAE & The Center’s Five-Star Weekend Committee. “The thought leader and CEO roundtable sessions have become a valuable component of the weekend and maximize the opportunity for CEOs and industry partners to engage in conversations about key issues.” |
