The first day of summer this year marked the one year anniversary of the Westin Boston Waterfront. Having enjoyed a 90 percent occupancy rate in its freshman year of business, the venue has decided to give itself and its guests a birthday present of an additional 45,000 square feet of meeting space and three restaurants, scheduled to open in March 2008. "We are pleased with a solid occupancy as we celebrate our one-year anniversary," said David Connor, General Manager. "We are excited to already be expanding our facilities after only a year in operation."
Located in the South Boston waterfront district—a dynamic neighborhood that in addition to restaurants, shopping and nightlife also includes the New England Aquarium, the Boston Children’s Museum, the Boston Design Center, and the Institute of Contemporary Art—the Westin Boston Waterfront offers convenience, comfort and productive possibilities for meeting planners, meeting attendees and traveling business executives.
Its new meeting space includes a 25,000 square-foot exhibit hall, five break-out rooms and an 8,500 square-foot ballroom, bringing the hotel’s meeting space to a total of 85,000 square feet. The three additional restaurants will join the hotel’s signature 150-seat restaurant, Sauciety; 80-seat lobby lounge Birch Bar, and a 30-seat Starbucks café. The Westin Boston Waterfront is a 17-story, full-service, state-of-the-art hotel, offering 793 upscale guestrooms, including 30 suites, two Presidential Suites with unsurpassed views, and five Westin Workout rooms. In addition to its own growing meeting space, the venue is the only hotel connected to the 1.6 million-square-foot Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
"This expansion is simply a natural evolution for the hotel, helping to provide additional amenities and conveniences for both the meetings market and leisure travelers while still providing the intuitive service and refreshing touches the hotel has become known for," added Connor. |
