Since 1979, the Anatole Hotel has been central to the social scene of Dallas, Texas and in the 1980s gained considerable fame for musical performances and movie premiers, as well as famous guests, including Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. In January 2006, the Anatole was added to the Hilton portfolio starting a year in which the Hilton brand was reignited with major enhancements to amenities, facilities and meeting/event spaces. Hilton Hotels have received more than $1 billion in renovations funds at 145 existing corporate-owned, managed and franchised hotels.
Now called the Hilton Anatole Hotel, the venue is launching an extensive $40 million renovation, designed to enhance its already strong reputation among meeting and event planners. Kicking off the makeover will be a transformation of the hotel’s famed Stemmons Auditorium. During its 80s heyday, the auditorium, hosted such entertainers, Stevie Wonder, Huey Lewis and the News, the Pointer Sisters, KC and the Sunshine Band, Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach , as a famous birthday party for Princess Stephanie of Monaco and the premier of "The Natural" with Robert Redford. "It is these famous performances and along with many others, that make the venue storied, and is one of the many reasons why the Anatole is Dallas' legendary hotel," said Tom Faust, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Hilton Anatole Hotel.
Expected to be completed in May, the 1,000-seat amphitheater will be transformed into the Stemmons Ballroom, a unique 8,300-square-foot oval ballroom divisible by four that can accommodate guests in a variety of settings, including 660 guests banquet style, 765 guests theater style, 920 reception guests and nearly 570 guests classroom style.
The new ballroom will be a versatile, state-of-the-arts events space while continuing its reputation for grand design and enduring style and will boast both an architectural flare and classic elegance in soft white tones and rich dark cherry hardwoods. The Stemmons Ballroom will feature a full-compliment of technological equipment including full voice, data, audio visual and power connectivity. Additionally, the Ballroom offers Category 6 ports with fiber-optic backbone, dimmable lighting, individual DSP speaker zones in each room, and pre-installed rigging points.
"It is important to us to keep the historic integrity and cache of Stemmons and our Hotel while continuing to evolve to host a new generation of guests, their meetings, expectations and special events so that they have landmark experiences," said Faust.
The Hilton Anatole is also renovating the Atrium pre-function area, directly outside the ballroom, creating an additional 9,840 square feet of event space that offers the ability to host pre-function catering and VIP receptions. The Atrium can host up to 600 guests banquet style and 1,100 guests reception style. In addition to the Atrium rennovation, plans include renovating the adjacent L'Entrecote Room, which comprises 4,560 square feet, can hold up to 500 guests depending on the setup and serves as a welcome or registration area.
In addition to this massive makeover of the Stemmons, the hotel will completely renovate its 700 Tower guestrooms and the 30,000-square-foot Chantilly Ballroom over the next year. In 2006, the hotel added the chic and contemporary Gossip bar, a concierge lounge with sweeping views of Dallas and a completely refurbished Wedgwood ballroom and Verandah Club and Spa.
Located within a 45-acre campus, the Hilton Anatole Hotel features two high-rise atriums; a 27-story tower; luxuriously appointed guestrooms with first-class in-room amenities and wired Internet access in all rooms and public spaces; 341,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, including 76 meeting rooms and 128,000 square feet of dedicated exhibit space. |
