La Quinta, CA—Embassy Suites Hotels honored its top hotels during an awards ceremony at the brand ' s annual General Manager and Directors of Sales Conference, held the La Quinta Resort and Club in January. The evening’s theme—" A Gathering of Stars "— was attended by more than 600 general managers, directors of sales, owners and corporate team members. More than 40 awards were presented to hotels chosen from the brand ' s portfolio of more than 185 hotels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America. Each honored hotel received a trophy, monetary prize and individual recognition during the event.

One of the evening’s highlights were the very special, "Connie Awards", named in honor of company founder Conrad Hilton. Connies are awarded based on three key components: quality assurance audits measuring cleanliness, condition and brand standards; customer scores rating staff service; and customer scores rating the quality of the hotel ' s physical accommodations.

The Hervey Feldman Award—named in honor of one of the pioneers of the Embassy Suites brand and the brand ' s first president—is the Embassy Suites General Manager of Year prize. The 2006 honor went to Syed Hasan, general manager of the Embassy Suites Chicago-Downtown/Lakefront (455 rooms, 16,000 sq. ft. of meeting/event space).
Sarah Poindexter, director of sales at the Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport-Burlingame (340 rooms, with 16,000 sq. ft of meeting space, including 11 meeting rooms) was awarded Director of Sales of the Year, while the sales team at the Embassy Suites Albuquerque - Hotel & Spa (261 rooms, and 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, 19 meeting rooms) was awarded the Sales Team of the Year Award.
