DES MOINES, IA—Marriott Downtown, the largest hotel in Iowa, has launched Phase One of an extensive $13 million dollar property renovation, designed to reposition the venue as the premier business and convention destination. The comprehensive makeover, which will encompass meeting and ballroom space, restaurant and lounge, pool and fitness facility, and guest rooms, is designed to create a dynamic new look and feel, to appeal to business travelers and meeting planners.

"This electrifying transformation will take us to a whole-new level as business chic and convention savvy," said, Cindy Roberts, director of sales and marketing. "Our legendary reputation will surely be enhanced as we continue to meet and exceed the ever-changing needs of our most discerning travelers."

Phase One of the renovation, slated to be completed by early 2007, will encompass the lobby, ballroom, restaurant and lounge, suites, guestroom baths and bedding package, concierge lounge, pool and fitness facility. Phase Two to be completed by 2009, will complete all remaining guestroom renovations, which will include new carpeting and headboards.

Connected via skywalk to the Iowa Event Center in the thriving business district, theDes Moines Marriott Downtown is also only four miles from the Des Moines International Airport, where complimentary shuttle service is provided.

With the completion of Phase I, guests will enter into a stunning lobby, outfitted with a soothing water fountain, sparkling new marble floors, granite wall coverings, a nouveau front desk, Starbucks kiosk, revamped business center and a convenient boarding pass kiosk. Each guestroom and suite will feature fresh, new Revive* bedding showcases plusher mattresses, softer sheets and more pillows, with spacious guestroom baths boasting an assortment of luxury products, contemporary curved shower rods and generous spray showerheads. All suites will be completely redesigned to include contemporary furnishings and a sleek wet bar, while the concierge lounge will be relocated, to overlook the lobby.

The 25,000 square-feet of flexible meeting space at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, is the ideal venue to host any size meeting or themed event. The 9,400 square-foot Iowa Ballroom will now boast a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, air walls, luminous chandeliers and elegant furnishings. The fitness center will expand to an overwhelming 1,200 square-feet and refurbished with the latest exercise equipment. Additionally, public spaces including the pool area will receive a subtle makeover, to conclude Phase One of this spectacular renovation project.
