Minnetonka, MN— Minnetonka is just eight miles west of Minneapolis and boasts 42 community parks, more than 40 miles of trails, more than 1,000 acres of public open space, and a bay on the famous Lake Minnetonka, Gray’s Bay, which forms the headwaters of Minnehaha Creek. It is also the location of a revamped meeting venue, Minneapolis Marriott Southwest, which unveiled a $2.5 million dollar meeting space renovation that boasts innovative décor and cutting-edge technology highlighting the improved 14,000 square-feet of meeting/event space.
The recently-completed project, which included abstract artwork, custom carpet designs and elegant chandeliers, among other features, is highlighted by state-of-the-art meeting technology. The single-level group space includes a 7,100-square-foot ballroom and 17 breakout rooms suitable for a variety of functions. "I always tell our groups considering the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest, that they will not receive better service anywhere else—Minneapolis Marriott Southwest always goes over and above," said Kurt Steensland, Manager of Meetings & Special Events.
The venue also features wireless internet access, business center, executive boardroom designed meeting room and an outdoor patio for additional meeting/event space. An impressive array of abstract artwork showcases modern interpretations of nearby lakes and can be appreciated throughout the richly-redesigned space. Custom carpet designs in soothing hues of gold, green and cinnamon red compliment cream woodwork and elegant two-tiered chandeliers. The addition of the new air walls make for a quiet environment when hosting a private function. The foyer space encompasses modern and transitional furnishings with new accent lighting and expansive windows providing scenic outdoor views.
To sweeten the deal, hot dates are an added incentive, especially for meeting attendees who traditionally tack on a couple of vacation days to their business trips. And, guests who take advantage of that incentive will find lots to see and do, including downtown Minneapolis, Mall of America and Mystic Lake Casino. More than that, a great night’s sleep (with Marriott’s Revive* bedding package), and a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner at Stacy’s Grille, as overseen by the newly-assigned Executive Chef Jens Juettner, makes a meeting date at this suburban property a real business retreat. A 24-hour, fitness center is onsite and nearby outdoor activities, from rock climbing to fly-fishing, are readily available. |
