Looking forward to welcoming more conventioneers and meeting attendees from around the world to Greater Hartford are:  (from left to  right):  William Van Buskirk, Bradley  International Airport Station Manager Hartford, CT—With the opening of the Connecticut Convention Center and connecting Hartford Marriott Downtown, the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau reported that 2006 was its most successful year ever. It will soon be easier for the world business travelers to get to meetings and conventions in Hartfrord. Beginning on July 1, Bradley International Airport will offer direct trans-Atlantic flights for the first time when Northwest Airlines debuts nonstop service between Hartford, Conn.’s Bradley International Airport and Amsterdam—timed to enable convenient, single connections from 81 cities in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India through Northwest/KLM’s Amsterdam hub.

The new Santa Fe Civic Center will provide group and business meetings a state-of-the-art facility. Total space in the center will increase from just over 45,000 square feet in the old center, to more than 72,000 square feet. Exhibit area will go from 11,400 square feet to nearly 19,000 square feet; the lobby will expand from 3,100 square feet to 9,800 square feet; break-out meeting space will be 8,750 square feet; and the kitchen area will grow from 1,665 square feet to 4,000 square feet.Santa Fe, NM—A new, state of the art venue may give meeting planners and attendees a new reason to rediscover the Santa Fe Trail, the famous 19th century passageway that led to the Capital of New Mexico. Construction of a new Civic Center in Santa Fe began on the last day of November, 2006 with a ceremonial ground breaking.  The new center is designed to exceed the needs and expectations of the many meeting planners who have held Santa Fe meetings in the past while offering more options to planners who have been unable to hold events in Santa Fe because of the old center's limitations.

The Hyatt Regency Indianapolis has begun a  $11-million  Renovation that includes adding a flexible, column free, 8,000-square-foot ballroom.Indianapolis-—The Hyatt Regency Indianapolis has begun a $11-million renovation that includes adding 10,000 square feet of meeting space, an Italian/American restaurant, cosmopolitan lounge, Starbucks and improved lobby. The project, which started on January 21 and is due for completion by mid-July 2007, is both an expansion and a makeover, allowing the venue to offer more space options for meeting planners with the creation of a flexible, column free, 8,000-square-foot ballroom and an atrium that will accommodate up to 1,300 people and complement the current Regency Ballroom's 9,400 square feet.
