OGDEN ECCLESS CONFERENCE CENTER SIGNS WITH SMG

SMG has signed a management contract with the David Eccles Conference Center in Ogden, Utah. The venues Executive Room features Congress-style seating for 80, on-line access for 45 computers where networked software can be projected onto the built-in screen.  Ogden, UT—SMG has signed a multi-year contract to the Ogden Eccles Conference Center, indicating that the company sees continued growth in the small-to-mid-size meeting and event market. "The potential that we see in the David Eccles Conference Center and Peery's Egyptian Theater has been untapped," said Allyson Jackson, regional general manager, SMG. "We look forward to polishing this gem and letting meeting and event planners know what an awesome destination this can be."

CONNECTICUT CONVENTIONS GAIN CAPITAL OFFICE

The 540,000-square-foot Connecticut Convention Center features 180,000 square feet of prime exhibit space and in its first year of operation, hosted 380 events and more than 260,000 visitors. With 59 percent of those events coming from Washington D.C. based-organizations, the venue decided to open a sales office on the Potomac.Washington, D.C.—In a classic case of going where the market is, the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) has opened a Washington, D.C. office, because more than half of the meeting planners that have booked the Nutmeg State’s new state-of-the-art 540,000-square-foot Connecticut Convention Center, have come from our nation’s capital. "Our experience in this market, which represents more than 59 percent of our convention business, has shown us that we need to have a day-to-day presence," explains Michael Van Parys, Vice President of Sales, GHCVB.

The incentive saves energy costs and makes meetings in this charming country side setting just north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania more efficient.Butler County, PA—The Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau (BCTCB) has increased attendee convenience and energy efficiency at this Western Pennsylvania destination just 20 minutes North of Pittsburgh.
