Record Revenue in March For Iowa Arena

The U.S. Cellular Center, a  multi-use facility, is capable of hosting from 3,500 to 10,000 people and features Exhibition Space 161 10’ x 10’ booths in the arena. This Cedar Rapids, Iowa Venue, managed by VenuWorks, had a record March this year, in spite of the economy and the fact that in 2008 it sustained severe flood damage. The numbers are in and the U.S.Cellular Center, a VenuWorks-managed, multi-purpose venue in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, reported its most profitable March in its history. The U.S. Cellular Center staff reported to the Five Seasons Facilities Commission—the government agency that oversees the venue—that the center recording $142,539.95 – hosting events and move-in/out days on 29 of 31 days – during the month.

"We’re seeing growth, which is gratifying in these times because some of the other Florida cities have been hit hard by the economy," said Kole, who emphasized the city has become a prime destination for meetings with 250-300 attendees or smaller.

In spite of the challenging economic times, the fiscal year ending in June, “will be our best year ever, especially for Group Travel,” said Ana Maria Viscasillas, President & CEO, adding that 27 percent of the Group Travel Business was associated with a Convention Center Booking.” The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau is the Sales and Marketing arm for the Puerto Rico Convention CenterAna Maria Viscasillas, President & CEO, of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau hosted a press luncheon in New York to publicize some recent achievements in marketing the Commonwealth as a Meetings Destination. Like most destinations, the global economic woes hurt Puerto Rico, "But we have done better than other Caribbean destinations. None of our construction has been halted or delayed," said Viscasillas.
