RENOWNED SAFETY EXPERTS NAMED IAAM TRUSTEES

Peter Hayden, a former Chief of the New York City Fire Department, was the incident commander for the FDNY for the World Trade Center attack in 2001, where  he led the rescue and recovery operations at Ground Zero.   Two veteran safety experts have been announced as new Trustees to the Academy for Venue Safety & Security by the International Association of Assembly Managers, Inc. (IAAM) The new Trustees are Mark Hamilton, Managing Director of Rock Steady Group and Peter Hayden, a former Chief of the New York City Fire Department.

A rendering of the Convention Center at Jekyll Island, due to open in 2011. Jekyll Island  is one of the barrier islands along Georgia's coast—midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida. Rich in history, Jekyll Island was the site for plantations in the Antebellum south, then after the civil war it became a popular resort spot for the rich and famous. Accessible by car and just minutes from I-95, Jekyll Island offers a variety of amenities, including 10 miles of beach, four golf courses, a 250-acre Historic Landmark District, a water park, tennis center, and an array of lodging options including hotels, cottages and campgrounds. Soon, meetings and conventions will be added to this unique destination.

Research conducted by the Saint Paul CVA indicated that when visitors think of Saint Paul, the images most likely to pop into their heads were the city’s iconic landmarks—such as the State Capitol, Cathedral of Saint Pau, Rice Park, Xcel Energy Center and the Mississippi River New adventures await in the North Country and for meeting attendees, business travelers and tourists, they begin in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Saint Paul Convention & Visitors Authority unveiled its new logo and branding campaign—The Adventure Begins—at its Annual Meeting at Landmark Center on February 26.
