New Orleans and its premier meeting venue—the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center—continues to regain its former stature as a national convention destination. The Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will return to New Orleans in 2016 and 2022.

Canada’s largest  Convention Complex, Exhibition Place in Toronto, will soon have a new convention hotel. In early December, the Toronto City Council approved a proposal by HKHotels that involves a Hotel Development Project on the grounds of Exhibition Place. The new convention center hotel is scheduled to go under construction in 2011 and open in 2013.

If You Build It, They Will Come, may be the famous Field of Dreams mantra, but Indianapolis has not only made this saying a reality, but has taken it one step further—If You Build It, They Will Come Back. The annual convention of the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA), known as CEDIA EXPO, which was held in Indianapolis in 2003-2005, has announced that they will return this Midwest Destinations in 2011 and 2012, lured mainly by the expanded Indianapolis Convention Center.

After what organization officials describe as a rigorous selection process, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has announced that Houston, Texas—and its stellar George R. Brown Convention Center—will host the 2013 edition of Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition, which will be held December 10-12.  IAEE's Annual Meeting is renowned for its numerous education sessions, networking opportunities designed specifically for exhibitions and events industry professionals and extensive trade show exhibition floor, which places significant demands on city, its convention center and its Convention and Visitors Bureau staff.
