Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center has designed a coaster specially designed for the plastic bottles of spring water, ubiquitous at all meetings, conferences & events. Of course, attentive venue staff are quick to remove and/or replace bottles, regardless of whether they need to be, needlessly increasing the volume of the plastic bottles. The new coaster, or "water saver," reduces waste and appeals to the growing green consciousness among meeting planners and attendees. The coasters are placed over the neck of the plastic bottle, the water saver says: "place this saver over your water bottle and our staff will not remove it, conserving water and saving resources for future recycling." Since introducing the coaster in the spring, meeting attendees have consumed 25 percent fewer bottles, resulting in less plastic waste and significant cost savings.
