
Los Angeles may have celebrated an anniversary last year, but meeting and event planners more reasons to visit the city this year. Carol Martinez, Associate Vice President, Media Relations and Communications, LA Inc., the Los Angles Convention and Visitors Bureau, visited with facilitiesonline to fill us in about L.A.’s latest meeting news—The Los Angeles Convention Center is at the heart of L.A Live, an exciting new entertainment district that is adjacent to the convention center as the Staples Center. L.A. Live is a new 4 million-square-foot, mixed-used development on 27 acres, covering more than six city blocks. Some call it Times Square West, L.A. Live will be a "content campus" and THE event center for Southern California. Meeting Attendees will be glad to learn about the new array of activities L.A. Live offers, including fully functioning broadcast studios, restaurants, cafes, music clubs, a cultural museum and other entertainment venues and assorted night spots. In addition, two new convention hotels, adding more than 1,000 guest rooms within walking distance of the convention center, are currently under construction.
