At most birthday parties, the one who is a year older receives present. The Embassy Suites-Overland Park reversed that tradition for its 25th anniversary celebration. Paige Southard, General Manager of the hotel, welcomed 25 local charities and presented each with a $1000 check. The charities included Kansas City Toys for Tots, Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, Special Olympics of Kansas, Meals On Wheels-Shawnee Mission, March of Dimes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls and Clubs of Greater Kansas City and many more. During the event, guests celebrated with a special cake and refreshments and visits from many of the children who will benefit directly from the donation including the Girl Scouts. The Embassy Suites-Overland Park is the world’s first Embassy Suites and recently completed an eight-month major renovation of its 199 guest suites, lobby, Atrium, meeting space, Fitness Center and Business Center.
