SUPERDOME REBUILT; SAINTS SELL OUT

Friday, 22 September 2006 13:25

In New Orleans, The Saints are not just marching in, they’re blocking, rushing and charging in. Opening ahead of schedule, The Louisiana Superdome will be ready for some football on Monday, September 25, 2006 when the New Orleans Saints play the Atlanta Falcons on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.  Severely damaged last year from Hurricane Katrina, the Superdome also housed 30,000 Katrina evacuees. In January, the NFL pledged up to $20-million in grants toward the Superdome's $185.4-million renovation, including $134-million for storm repair. The renovated arena will feature new ProStar video displays, four new LED "Ribbon" boards, completely remodeled concession stands, and refurbished upper Terrace concourse.  Even more ready for some football than the Superdome are The Saints Fans—On September 18,  team owner Tom Benson announced The New Orleans Saints officially sold out the entire regular season home schedule in the Louisiana Superdome— first time in the history of the franchise, which was founded in 1967, that every available seat was owned by a season ticket holder.

THE WHO ROCKS PRIME SITE STAGES

Friday, 22 September 2006 09:15

The legendary Rockers, The Who, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, have returned to North American arenas and other venues playing a combination of hits, rarities and long awaited new material

Few rock bands reach the legendary status of The Who. Veterans of the famed mid-60s British Invasion, the band seems to have played nearly every important concert from Woodstock in 1969, to the September 11th Tribute, “Concert For New York City,” in 2001. Now, in their fifth decade of rock and roll, The Who are returning to rock North America with a special tour of arenas and other venues.

The Who opened their 2006 World Tour at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA, on September 12, and soon added new dates to the North American leg of their first world tour in over 20 years. Anticipation for the tour is already running at an all-time high; fans and critics alike have  hailed the show as being, "Just like the good ole days," with the  same, unbridled power and emotion that exemplifies a Who show.

The Who, famous for their powerful music and energy on stage, will  perform songs from their new mini rock opera, Wire & Glass, material  from their upcoming studio album along with their greatest hits and  rarities.  The new album, Endless Wire, the band's first since 1982's It's Hard, is scheduled for an October 31 release.

Founding Members, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will be joined on stage for this tour by John  'Rabbit' Bundrick on keyboard, Pino Palladino on bass, Zak Starkey on drums and Simon Townshend on guitar and vocals.

Although new shows are likely to be added, the confirmed 29 North American dates include the following Prime Site Award winning arenas:  Pepsi Center, American Airlines Arena, Toyota Center, Van Andel Arena and Xcel Energy Center.
