
The City of Oshawa in Ontario, Canada has approved the operations/management contract with Global Spectrum Facility Management for the General Motors Centre. As the operator of the General Motors Centre, Global Spectrum, a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor, will operate, manage, program, maintain and repair the facility for and on behalf of the City. Global Spectrum also assumes all responsibilities for marketing, promoting as well as securing rentals and events for the facility. "We look forward to finally seeing the GMC operate at its full potential with Global Spectrum's vast network in attracting an array of events that are sure to entertain all of the citizens of Oshawa," said Mayor John Gray. Opened in November 2006, the 5,500-seat, multi-purpose, General Motors Centre, located in downtown Oshawa, is a premier sports and entertainment venue and home to the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club.
