The Piano Men (or is that Rocket Men?) are back together and ready to hit the road so music fans and arenas can get some much needed “Face 2 Face”time. Billy Joel & Elton John first toured together in 1994, and their most recent “Face 2 Face”trek, was in 2003, a 24-date sold out tour. It is believed that the ’09 version of “Face 2 Face”will follow the previously successful format: Elton John & Billy Joel open the show on twin pianos and trade vocals on a series of duets. A headlining set by each artist with his own band follows. The shows will conclude with both headliners & bands.
Anticipation is high in Michigan for the show. It wasn't just a banner day at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Thursday, January 15 when officials announced a Billy Joel & Elton John "Face 2 Face" tour date on May 21, it was a "two-banner day." During the press conference, Palace Sports & Entertainment President and CEO Tom Wilson announced that banners for the performers, ironically two of the venue's three top-attended concert acts in its 20 year history, will be hoisted to the arena's rafters alongside those of other notable venue memories, as part of its ongoing 20th Anniversary celebration. Posing with replicas of the arena banners at the conference are (L-R): Tom Wilson, President and CEO of Palace Sports & Entertainment and Rick Franks, President of Live Nation, North Central Region).

Other arenas who will meet “Face 2 Face” in 2009 include: Jacksonville Arena, St. Pete Times Forum, Time Warner Cable Arena, US Bank Arena, Philips Arena, The BOK Center,Toyota Center, AT&T Center, US Airways Center, Honda Center, Xcel Energy Center, Qwest Center, Scottrade Center, Sommet Center, Conseco Fieldhouse, Quicken Loans Arena.
