The official unveiling of the expanded Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium took place this week.
Surrounded by sea life from around the globe and eating food prepared by Wolfgang Puck—meetings and events in Atlanta have just become more exiting and unique. The Georgia Aquarium and Wolfgang Puck Catering officially unveiled the highly anticipated 7,000-square-foot expansion of the Oceans Ballroom and new programs for meeting planners at an event Monday, October 15. The expansion to the Ocean Ballroom’s pre-function space creates an elegant entrance to the ballroom augmented by unique lighting, seating and repositionable air walls. The addition of the space allows the facility to accommodate multiple and larger events at one time without interruption. New green rooms and a coat check room were added for the convenience of guests. Breathtaking ocean views provide the backdrop in the Aquarium’s sophisticated Oceans Ballroom. With two large aquatic observation windows, guests find themselves face-to-face with beluga whales and whale sharks, the world’s largest fish.
"Guests loved our 16,400 square feet of flexible space and the dining dream team of Wolfgang Puck Catering, but they gave us feedback on how we could improve our facility," said Carey Rountree, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at the Georgia Aquarium. "This expansion is a result of that feedback as we want to continue to give our guests what they want."
The Georgia Aquarium, which opened a visitor’s center last year, is offering several incentive programs for meeting and event planners: Event Dive Program. which allows a diver to welcome your guests from inside the Ocean Voyager exhibit and utilizes the Aquarium’s new state-of-the-art sound system by allowing the diver to talk to guests from inside the 6.3 million gallon Ocean Voyager exhibit; Nautical Miles, a frequent meeting planner rewards program that rewards clients who book daytime meetings at the Georgia Aquarium; and Club Fish, an opt-in, online ticketing program that gives human resource directors of corporations opportunity to offer employees discounted tickets to the Georgia Aquarium.
