New Museum in Mississippi for BB KING

Tuesday, 16 September 2008 17:34

B.B. King sure knows how to celebrate a birthday. The beloved Blues legend and music icon, who turned 83 in September, now has his own museum—the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola, Mississippi—which opened on September 13th. Above, BB kisses an exclusive Gibson Custom BB King 83rd Birthday Lucille guitar.” The new museum, a tribute to both the guitarist and blues music, is also part of the Mississippi Blues Trail, a project that places interpretive markers at the most notable historical sites related to the growth of the blues throughout the state of Mississippi. B.B. King, who know only has a string of Blues Clubs named after him, and came out with a new release in August, One Kind Favor, an album of blues standards hailed by critics. After the museum opening celebration, B.B. King did what he has done for decades, went back on the road—B.B. King still plays about 100 shows a year.  (Photo by James Patterson)
