
The Lexington Downtown Hotel & Conference Center, a Hilton Affiliate Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky will install “Late Bluegrass Afternoon,” in its Lobby this month. The photograph, a vivid image of thoroughbred yearlings grazing in their paddock on Manchester Farm, is by renowned, award-winning local equine photographer, Doug Prather and consists of 20 panels spanning 16.5 feet wide by 22 feet high. “Late Bluegrass Afternoon” is considered the the largest sublimation in the country. Sublimation is a printing technique used to produce the photograph panels is called Dye sublimation is printing technique that uses specific dyes, heat and pressure to transfer a printed image below the surface, permanently embedding the inks in special hardboard panels. The hotel will showcase a total of four Doug Prather images that will rotate to coincide with the seasons.
