School of Hospitality Seeks Dean

Florida International University (FIU) is soliciting nominations and applications for the Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. The dean leads a talented faculty in the disciplines of hospitality and tourism located in culturally vibrant Miami, Florida, and Tianjin, People’s Republic of China. The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at FIU has maintained a consistent ranking as one of the top hospitality management schools in the US and has won international recognition. The School offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees to over 1700 students on two continents. Applications must have attained distinction in one of the disciplines of the School and be proven leader with the requisite vision to continue the School’s development as a global leader of hospitality education and research. The dean is expected to promote the global visibility of the School’s programs, foster research, partner with the university’s Vice President for Advancement to grow the School’s endowment and manage the School’s human, fiscal and physical resources. Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate (PhD or DBA) in the appropriate field from an accredited institution of higher education, demonstrated successful experience in academic administration, evidence of scholarly and professional achievement that will merit a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor, demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituencies, knowledge of hospitality and tourism and their role in the global marketplace and society, demonstrated success in developing external funding and fund raising from private and public sources, and an ability to effectively manage programs on different continents and in different cultures.
