Randall Tanaka (left), Assistant General Manager of the Hawaii Convention Center, and Michael Caffin, Associate Publisher, The Facilities Media Group, went walking in the rain today. Tanaka was in town to meet with select members of the press and meeting planners to discuss the Hawaii Convention Center’s Global Outreach programs that are enabling Associations to increase the ranks of international attendees to their conventions and meetings. “The Hawaii Convention Center is more global than people see,” said Tanaka. “Associations are looking to grow attendance, and every association in their bylaws state in their mission statement to be international. With Hawaii, we’re a one stop shop for accomplishing just that. Our Global Out Reach Program has been successful, especially in healthcare professionals, in drawing attendance especially from China, Korea and Japan. Our micro-sites have become turbocharged. The way to globalize your convention is to start here.”
