The second annual Food & Wine Classic—one of the main events of the ASAE & The Center’s 2008 Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego—raised more than $225,000 for The Center for Association Leadership. Held aboard the USS Midway, the Food & Wine Classic featured ASAE & The Center members who competed for the title of Association Top Chef along with culinary teams and ASAE & The Center partners. The Omaha Convention & Visitor Bureau team, led by Paul Pomerantz, (right) CAE, Executive Vice President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Omaha Steaks’ Executive Chef Karl Marsh, CRC, won the top chef competition. Attendees of the event voted Pomerantz the 2008 Association Top Chef. The team prepared Omaha Steaks beef tenderloin with southwest chipotle seasoning. “The 2008 Food & Wine Classic was truly an outstanding event,” said John H. Graham IV, CAE, President/CEO, ASAE & The Center. “Thank you to our sponsors who made this event possible and to all the members and guests who attended the Classic for supporting The Center for Association Leadership.” The Center for Association Leadership is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs and future-oriented research for the association profession.
