Jazz Great, Freddie Hubbard was one of the most powerful and lyrical horn players of the past 50 years. Hubbard recorded with the most innovative geniuses in Jazz—John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Ornette Coleman, and Herbie Hancock. Sadly, he passed away on December 29, 2008 at the age of 70. O'Doul's Restaurant & Bar, a cornerstone of the Vancouver restaurant business and the Canadian Jazz scene, will celebrate Hubbard February 5th to 7th by spotlighting three of Hubbard’s biggest fans and finest interpreters: Thursday, February 5 - Chris Davis, a recent import from Jacksonville, Florida. Davis is a tremendous player who has quickly made himself integral to the Vancouver music scene; Friday, February 6 – Brad Turner (One of Vancouver's own Jazz Giants, and Juno and National Jazz Award winner; and Saturday, February 7 - Seattle's Jay Thomas, one of the strongest trumpeters on the U. S. west coast. (All three players will be accompanied by bass player Russ Botten and his Trio). O'Doul's Restaurant & Bar is located at The Listel Hotel, an intimate boutique hotel that boasts a perfect location in downtown Vancouver’s premiere shopping & restaurant and features 3,500 square feet of multi-functional meeting and event facilities.
