Larry? There are signs of improvement in Brookings, South Dakota. Well, actually the city’s main Event & Meeting venue, the multi-purpose, VenuWorks-managed Swiftel Center has improved its signage. Daktronics, Inc., which is headquartered in Brookings, recently manufactured and installed a new double-sided, full color outdoor display at the Swiftel Center The project was an upgrade to existing equipment used for the center’s highway marquee. The sign measures 6 feet by 14 feet, features light emitting diode (LED) technology and runs run prerecorded video, text, graphics and animations in full color for true-to-life image reproduction. Daktronics and Swiftel Center have worked together on various community projects and corporate partnerships in the Brookings area. The updated message board demonstrates the relationship they have forged. “We chose Daktronics again, not only because it’s in our community, but also because it’s the world leader,” said Tom Richter, Executive Director, Swiftel Center. Daktronics is the world’s largest supplier of large screen video displays. “We’re happy with the installation because such an eye-catching display will help improve our marketing efforts.” Since it opened in 2001, the Swiftel Center has hosted concerts, motor sports, athletic events, meetings, conventions, receptions, rodeos and equestrian events and features a 30,000-square-foot arena floor and 7,000 square foot banquet facility.

Oh yeah, that Larry—Larry the Cable Guy. The sleeveless comedian is currently on tour and scheduled to bring his comedy to the Swiftel Center in May.
