Acknowledge the exceptional.

Since 1994, that is what the Facilities Media Group has asked its readership to do, and it is always a wonderful surprise to me how enthusiastically the industry responds.

Of course, the way we at the Facilities Media Group acknowledge the exceptional is with our Annual Awards of Excellence. For entertainment venues—arenas, civic centers, coliseums, and theaters—we bestow the Facilities Prime Site Award. The folks who vote on the awards are the professionals who know exceptional venues—Booking Agents, Promoters, Talent Buyers and Special Event Planners.

It is not always the most famous facilities, or the venues in the largest cities, or even the ones with the latest staging technology that the live entertainment industry cites as exceptional. Instead, these are the stages—and more importantly, the audiences—that provide the best showcase for concerts, theatrical events, family shows, sporting, athletic and competition events, as well as expositions and exhibitions, in North America.
