The manicured lawns and gardens of the Castle on the Hudson estate will soon be joined by another ‘green’ attraction as the nearly 100-year-old hotel makes the change to renewable energy, with the help of Juice Energy.

“As one of the world’s top 10 castle hotels, we are dedicated to providing a unique and luxurious experience to our guests,” said Gilbert Baeriswil, General Manager, Castle on the Hudson. “Juice is also in the business of providing a unique service that will greatly benefit our operations. Not only will this partnership allow us to keep our electricity costs down, but we will be doing so in the most environmentally conscientious way possible.”

Through a new agreement signed in February with Juice Energy, a NY-based retail electricity provider, Castle on the Hudson will accrue electricity cost savings and reduced environmental impact. The savings are achieved via a “forward purchase” in the energy trading market for 90 percent of the venue's electricity—resulting in overall 31 percent reduction in costs compared to current rates. Additionally, Juice - one of a growing number of "green" collar companies - is providing green power equal to 100 percent of the Castle on the Hudson's electricity usage. The green power supplied in this agreement takes the form of Green-e certified renewable energy credits (RECs) generated at wind facilities across the United States.

“We are thrilled to be working with such an historic and respected property,” said Brian Hayduk, Co-Founder/President, Juice. “We’re even more thrilled about their commitment to green power. Hey, it’s not every day that you have a one hundred year old castle investing in a clean energy future.”
