TARGET CENTER IS ROCKIN' AND DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS FEELS THE VIBRATION!

Saturday, 05 April 2008 18:48

The Target Center in, Minneapolis Minnesota has hosted over 30 events in March alone, including family shows, concerts, Timberwolves games and the Minnesota State High School Boys' and Girls' basketball tournaments. Upcoming concerts featuring nationally recognized tours and Grammy award winning artists such as Alicia Keys, Kid Rock, Kanye West, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Steve Miller Band with Joe Cocker and Celine Dion.

Some of the success of music at the downtown urban arena, has been the venue’s partnership with Indianapolis-based company Live-360 and its—Your Exclusive Access—a premium ticket marketing program. Some of the 2007 shows in which the Your Exclusive Access program was involved included: Van Halen, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, comedian Dane Cook, Dancing With The Stars, Ozzy Osbourne /Rob Zombie, Prince, the Fray, Hilary Duff, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Hank Williams Jr. & Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fall Out Boy, and the CMT Tour.

"We pursued new partnerships in 2007 to keep Target Center in the forefront of the entertainment industry," said Steve Mattson, Vice-President and General Manager of Target Center. "The facility kicked off 2008 with some of the biggest tours and we see no signs of slowing down; this is an exciting time for our staff, our venue and our city!"

The Target Center—which underwent a major renovation in 2004 that included the replacement of all 19,006 of its original seats plus the addition of nearly 1,500 new seats as well as the reconfiguration of the lower bowl to make the arena more fan-friendly—seats 20,500 for basketball and from 13,000 to 19,000 for end stage concerts, 19,500 for center-stage concerts and 17,500 for ice hockey. In addition, the Target Center can convert into a 3,000-to-7,500-seat theater known as the U.S. Bank Theater. "This concert series is ideal - it has a great mix of artists and will bring people to the heart of Minneapolis," said Karyn Gruenberg, Vice President of Marketing for Meet Minneapolis. "When they come downtown they will make an evening of it with dinner and possibly shopping. A vibrant Target Center is important to keep downtown alive and hopping."
