The night before their February 20 sellout show, Bon Jovi attended a Detroit Pistons home game at the arena. During a break in the game, they were surprised by the unveiling of a banner hung in the building's rafters, up with the NBA team's championship trophies and retired player's numbers.
Since 1984, the hard rock band from Sayerville, New Jersey—Bon Jovi—have been entertaining loyal audiences and selling records by the millions. Currently, the band is on the U.S. leg of its Lost Highway Tour, named after their current album which sold 292,000 copies in its first week on sale in the U.S. and became Bon Jovi's third US number one album. During the band’s Motor City gig at the Palace of Auburn Hills—they their own banner in the arena’s rafters. To commemorate 10 sold out shows at The Palace and its sister venue, DTE Energy Music Theatre, the arena raised the banner, reading Bon Jovi Sellouts 10. Only the Detroit Pistons championship trophies and retired players numbers have received this honor, thus Bon Jovi, in addition to all their other awards, are the first entertainers to be placed in such a lofty position.

The following day, the four band members were presented personalized Detroit Pistons jerseys. Pictured above (left to right) Richie Sambora, guitarist, Marilin Hauser, Executive Vice President/Booking & Marketing, Palace Sports & Entertainment and Jon Bon Jovi.
