Chinyere Hubbard, Director of Public Relations and Marketing and Gregory A. O’Dell, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, were recently seen in a New York coffee shop by facilitiesonline. The convention center was recently on the worldwide stage as the host venue for six official, simultaneous presidential inaugural celebrations on January 20th. Reportedly, the Convention Center staff spent a month preparing for the historic event, with all of its 200 employees and approximately 1,000 additional outside vendors and contractors on hand for the job. With 2.3 million square feet, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (formerly the Washington Convention Center), is one of the largest meeting facilities in both the Federal City as well as the Mid-Atlantic Region. The venue includes: 703,000 square feet of prime exhibit space, 150,000 square feet of meeting space, including 66 break-out rooms and 36,000 square feet of registration space. A new plan was recently announced that will retrofit portions of the venue to create an additional 40,000 square feet of space.
