Pennsylvania was on the Beam in October, when a Topping Off ceremony was celebrated in Lancaster Pennsylvania. Signing the steel beam were Jack Buckwalter, Chairman of Lancaster Newspapers; S. Dale High, Chairman of The High Companies; Nevin Cooley, President of Penn Square General Corp.; Lancaster Mayor Rick Gray; Lancaster County Commissioner Chairman Dennis Stuckey; PA State Rep. Known as the Lancaster Duo—the Lancaster County Convention Center and Marriott Lancaster at Penn Square—reached a milestone in October when a ceremonial “Topping Off” event was celebrated. This new $170 million integrated facility, right in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country (and easily accessible to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York), remains on schedule to open in Spring 2009. The complex features a 300-room hotel and 90,000+ square feet of combined meeting space. “We’re very excited about this milestone, which represents continued progress toward opening a superb facility whose positive economic impact will be felt in downtown Lancaster and throughout the county,” stated Tim Lease, Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We’re all beaming about today.”
