The Hotel Palomar Philadelphia (rendering above) , the latest venue in the growing Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants portfolio, is scheduled to open October 15 in the heart of the city's Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. Hotel Palomar Philadelphia is Kimpton's first hotel in Philadelphia and the city's first highly stylized, upscale boutique hotel. An adaptive reuse of an architecturally significant building, Hotel Palomar Philadelphia is also Kimpton's first hotel designed to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Work began in February 2008 to transform the 1929 landmark building, the Architects Building, into the $92.5 million, 230-room Hotel Palomar. The 24-story structure, a striking example of Art Deco architecture, is Kimpton's 11th adaptive reuse development. The hotel features 6,000 square feet of meeting space, including the 2,750-square-foot penthouse ballroom on the 25th floor, with sweeping views of the city skyline, three adaptable meeting rooms and 12-person high-tech board room is available on the second floor.
