Jack Schmidt, chief marketing officer, Benchmark Hospitality International forecasts an upbeat economic climate for the meetings industry in 2006, based on the companys annual Ten Top Hospitality Trends, which indicate that meeting planners are spending more, holding more events and demanding better technology, luxury amenities, and individualized services.THE WOODLANDS, TXMeeting spending is up and attendees are demanding higher quality. That seems to be the bottom line in Ten Top Hospitality Trends, the annual survey from Benchmark Hospitality International, which manages 31 resorts/conference centers throughout the U.S.

An Artist Rendering of the New Saint Louis University Arena in Saint Louis, Missouri, which is scheduled to open in March, 2008. SLU has just announced that Global Spectrum will manage this state-of-the-art venue. ST. LOUIS, MO—Saint Louis University (SLU) has selected Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum to manage the University's new multipurpose, $80 million, 10,000-seat sports/entertainment facility scheduled for a March 2008 opening.

The Exhibition Hall at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds in Ridgefield, Washington is celebrating its one year anniversary. The facility features 97,200 square feet of unobstructed show space and has state-of-the-art acoustics, boasting 3.0 seconds of reverberation, an outstanding accomplishment for a building its size. Adding the Exhibition Hall has increased bookings during non-fairground months and expanded the variety of events and meetings held at the venue.Ridgefield, WAThe Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds has reason to celebrate the first anniversary of its Exhibition Hall. The addition of this new facility, which opened in March of 2005, increased the number of events and shows presented in Clark County and attracted more than 400,000 people to the Event Center.
