The Society of Government Meeting Professionals honors Darryl Arancio, senior sales account executive for Marriott International, Central Region, with its 2006 Sam Gilmer Supplier of the Year Award. Named after the organization's founder Sam Gilmer, the award is considered the highest designation the society bestows.

ImageSpokane, WA—After more than 30 years of showcasing arts and entertainment for Spokane and the Inland Northwest, the Spokane Opera House will be changing its name. The Spokane Public Facilities District (SPFD) and Inland Northwest Bank announced in May that the venerable concert hall will now be known as the INB Performing Arts Center.

Springtime turned 30th this year. The event, held by American Society of Association Executives and The Center for Association Leadership at the Washington Convention Center, featured than 800 exhibitors and 4,500 attendees. (photograph by Sandy Abby)WASHINGTON, DCOn May 25, the Washington Convention Center, Springtime celebrated 30 years as the Greater Washington areas premier meetings and association industry expo. What started out as Summer in the Park in 1977, with 62 exhibitors and 274 attendees, the event, hosted by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership, has grown to more than 800 exhibitors and 4,500 attendees.
